five hearts

i do heart:
*feeling my body move.
*that deep shade of blue in the sky as dusk transitions to night.
*the smell of chlorine on my skin.
*grey days and rain.
*my eternal boy roommate.

i don't heart:
*congregations of ants. it creeps me out more than seeing a spider.
*boys that wear their pants past their butt. (and it's not even that they're baggy pants!) please, just pull them up.
*girls who wear over-sized pants. I'm talking super over-sized. like they're trying to be a gangster over-sized.
*dvd players in cars. (I know, I know... I'm not a mom yet... but is it really necessary?)
*carol makita and shelley osterlo. is that mean?

DVD players in cars (or more likely behemoth SUVs and vans) are the Anti-Christ.

What is the point of road tripping if they miss all the glorious beauty of the road in favor of some cheesy kids' show?

My girls will learn to love travel more than TV. It's the rule. Glad to hear your future kids will too. :-)

Said by women without kids? Yeah, mark my words you will one day CHERISH the DVD player in the car. If not, you're a far better woman than me. :-)

I remember the dramas, thrillers, and insane comedies we had playing during road trips. Screenwriters could not dream up some of the stuff we listened to. And it was all free.

Hey, I *am* a woman with kids! And when looking for our recently acquired minivan (pleh), I specifically avoided any with DVD player(s) installed. All else being equal -- mileage, condition, whatever -- I would even have been willing to pay more for a used van without that evil contraption. :-P

Like I said, you are a far better woman than me!

Carole Makita & Shelly Osterlogh - woah... that is a little offensive. I have always loved the channel 5 women news staff. I was really sad to see Ruth leave, and I love Deeny Wimmer.

wow, I didn't realize this was going to be such a controversial post! sorry, heed--there's just something about carole makita (is it the eye makeup?) and shelly osterloh that I just can't stand...
